Now See Here! – The Good Diner

Posted by: TGST

I was hired to photograph several veteran fine-dining servers for Memphis Magazine’s annual restaurant poll issue. I was worried about finding a way to make the subject matter interesting. The art director thought a “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” idea might go a long way toward explaining what these folks tolerate on a daily basis. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to pull that off without making it corny. So I shot some of that, and I shot some regular portraits and lo and behold an article appeared. The photos always look better with the rest of the layout to go with them so I’ve included the opening spread of the story. Meet Steven Shipp, Jeff Frisby, and Melvin “Too Tall” Moore.
