NIGHTSHIFT – Salt, Blood, Lime
Taking a skip week with MAGICTOWN, but in the meantime, here’s a script for a comic broadside I did a while back.
PANEL 1
INTERIOR, seedy bar in Mexico. The paint is peeling off the walls, the place probably reeks of urine and stale cigarette smoke. Through the window you can see that it is night outside. There are American college students everywhere. There is a banner that says “WELCOME SPRING BREAKERS!” across the street. A SORORITY GIRL walks in through the swinging door. The local patrons take notice.PANEL 2
SORORITY GIRL goes to get a drink from the bar, but stops as something down the bar catches her attention.PANEL 3
Down the bar we see a bar PATRON with a bottle of tequila in one hand and two shot glasses in the other. He has a snake’s smile on his face.PANEL 4
SORORITY GIRL gives him a coquettish “Who me?” look, placing her hand on her chest.PANEL 5
SORORITY GIRL and PATRON taking their first round of tequila shots. Limes and and a salt shaker are in front of themPANEL 6
SORORITY GIRL and PATRON taking round number bad idea of tequila shots. PATRON isn’t doing so hot, is leaning against the table in support. Oddly enough, SORORITY GIRL seems fine.PANEL 7
PATRON is passed out on the table, empty shot glasses and eaten lime peels are scattered in front of him and SORORITY GIRL. She is eyeing him with an arched eye brow.PANEL 8
CLOSE UP, Salt being poured on the back of SORORITY GIRL’s hand.PANEL 9
CLOSE UP, SORORITY GIRL sucking on a lime wedge.PANEL 10
PATRON alone at the table, still passed out. We can see the two puncture marks on his neck and the slight trickle of blood that SORORITY GIRL has left him.
